Kia Ora Rotorua! Exciting news, the Lifewise Big Sleepout in Rotorua is coming up on Thursday 5th September 2019 at a change of venue…

1230-1238 Pukuatua Street Carpark Building (Hinemoa Street Access)

This change of venue is due to the weather forecast.

For one night, community leaders, business leaders and members of the community will come together and experience what it’s like sleeping rough, getting a taste of life on the streets and raising critical funds to prevent homelessness.

What is the Big Sleepout?

The Big Sleepout is Lifewise’s annual flagship fundraising event. The event is also a key opportunity to raise awareness of homelessness in our communities as well as at a national level.

In previous years Rotorua participants have managed to raise up to $36,000! The event is a chance for hardworking groups and individuals to raise awareness about homelessness and continue to help some of the most vulnerable Kiwis in Rotorua.

This year the funds raised from the Rotorua Big Sleepout will all go towards furnishing our Housing First homes in our community of Rotorua.  Giving our previously homeless tenants the gift of both comfort and practicality.

Apart from experiencing what it’s like to sleep rough on cold hard concrete, participants of the Lifewise Big Sleepout also have the opportunity to meet with inspiring people who have survived and escaped homelessness, whilst gaining a strong sense of community by putting in the mahi to support their own.
